International Tea Day

In June 2019, a proposal by the Tea Society of China to establish an International Day of Tea was considered and adopted at the 41st session of the General Conference of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), which concluded in Rome, and was submitted to the United Nations General Assembly.
    On 21 November 2019, Palestine, on behalf of the Group of 77 and China, introduced a draft resolution on the International Day of Tea for the first time.
    On 27 November 2019, the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly declared 21 May each year as International Tea Day, in order to celebrate the economic, social and cultural values of tea and to promote the sustainable development of agriculture worldwide. On 21 November 2019, Palestine, on behalf of the Group of 77 and China, introduced the first ever draft resolution on International Tea Day.
    On 21 May 2020, President Xi Jinping sent a letter of warm congratulations to the International Tea Day series of events. Series of celebrations in Beijing, Guiyang, Yichang and other places in China
    May 21, 2022, is the world's third "International Tea Day", as an opportunity to release the Chinese tea technology heritage and promotion project to help the 46th World Skills Competition in Shanghai.
    In 2023, the International Tea Day was held on 29 June at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France, where China, Indonesia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Kenya, Sri Lanka and other countries set up booths to display their own high-quality tea products.
