Jinjunmei tea, belonging to the Zhengshan Xiaozhong branch of black tea, is originally produced in Tongmu Village, Wuyishan City, Fujian Province. It is a new variety of black tea developed by Jiang Yuanxun, the twenty-fourth generation inheritor of Zhengshan Xiaojiao tea, in 2005 through innovative fusion on the basis of traditional craftsmanship.
The reason why Jinjunmei is so valuable is because the whole process is handmade by tea masters. Each 500g of Jinjunmei requires tens of thousands of fresh tea bud tips, picked from the original small species of fresh tea buds in the Wuyi Mountain Nature Reserve in the mountains, and then goes through a series of complicated processing steps such as withering, shaking, fermentation and kneading to be completed. Jinjunmei is a rare and precious tea, with a small and compact shape, accompanied by golden yellow tea floss, golden soup colour, and a sweet and refreshing mouthfeel.
